1. SECOND HELPINGS VOLUNTEER JOINS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Amy Fee, a Hilton Head Island resident, was recently named to the board of directors of Second Helpings. Fee has extensive experience in sales and marketing. She retired in 2019 from Morgan Stanley as vice president and director of business development. 

1. NEW STAFF MEMBERS WELCOMED TO HILTON HEAD ISLAND-BLUFFTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce welcomed four new staffers to its organization. Michelle Pivik is the new Director of Member Recruitment and Engagement. An island resident for 12 years, she was previously a small business owner and worked in broadcast sales and property management. Seth Richardson joins the chamber’s Visitor & Convention Bureau division as the Director of Sales and Partnership Management. He was previously the assistant director of sales at the J.W. Marriott in Savannah and has worked at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate, Rosen Hotels & Resorts, and the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans. 

1. SECOND HELPINGS APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 

Marcus Tanner has been appointed as new executive director at Second Helpings. 

A native of northwest Tennessee, Tanner had a 27-year career in the Marine Corps. He has been stationed throughout the U.S. and has been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries in Africa and the Mediterranean. He retired from the military in October. 

1. BEAUFORT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NAMES OFFICER TO LEAD STUDENT SERVICES 

Juliet White, PhD, was selected to lead the Beaufort County School District’s Student Services division, which encompasses special education, alternative programming, guidance counselling, adult education, nursing, athletics and additional student services/initiatives. White, who has served as the district’s Director of Special Education since 2019, has 28 years of educational experience. 

1. HILTON HEAD REGIONAL HEALTHCARE NAMES NEW MARKET CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER 

Joel Taylor has been named Market Chief Executive Officer at Hilton Head Regional Healthcare. He assumed his role effective Sept. 30. Taylor will be responsible for overseeing all strategic, operational and clinical activities for the system. Taylor joined Hilton Head Regional Healthcare in 2016 and has been with the system’s parent company, Tenet Healthcare, for 10 years.

1. ROTARY CLUB OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND NAMES NEW PRESIDENT

Mary Briggs has assumed the role of President of the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island. She has been a member of the Club since 2001, an officer of the Board since 2018 and has chaired numerous committees. Briggs has served as a school principal and assistant superintendent of schools for the Beaufort Country School District and as the president and CEO of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra since she moved to the area in 1997. She currently serves as Vice President of the Lean Ensemble Theater Board of Directors.

1. STONEWORKS NAMES SALES MANAGER

Shannon Baltzegar has been promoted to sales manager at StoneWorks. She is the daughter of founder John Baltzegar III and one of the company’s owners. She has worked in the business officially for more than 23 years. Baltzegar is a member of Professional Women in Building Council of Hilton Head Area HBA.

1. ROC DENTAL GROUP WELCOMES PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR

Katie Brown has joined ROC Dental Group as its newest patient care coordinator. Originally from Colorado, Brown has lived in the Lowcountry for the past year and a half and has worked in the healthcare industry for the past four years.

1. TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS 

The Town of Hilton Head Island announced the realignment of several employees: Angie Stone was promoted to assistant town manager, Shawn Colin was promoted to senior advisor to the town manager, Lisa Stauffer was promoted to human resources director, Jennifer Ray was named capital projects manager, April Akins was promoted to revenue services manager, Erica Madhere was promoted to budget analyst and Phyllis Dieter was promoted to assistant town clerk. 

1. THE GREENERY NAMES NEW COO

Ken Thomas has been promoted to chief of operations at The Greenery. During his 30-year career, Thomas has owned and operated three landscape companies including Scapes Group in Atlanta.
