Between 70 and 100 parking spaces are set to be added on Dr. Mellichamp Drive, along the M.C. Riley Sports Complex and the Calhoun Street Promenade in Old Town Bluffton.
The extra parking will help with the demand from visitors and residents alike. In order to ensure safety, the S.C. Department of Transportation approved reducing the speed limit along Dr. Mellichamp Drive and Boundary Street to 25 mph from 30 mph.
