Charleston Named ‘Friendliest City In The World’

Want to find the friendliest city in the world? Here in South Carolina, you won't have to go far. Charleston has topped Conde Nast Traveler’s list of the  "Friendliest Cities" in the world. In justifying the ranking, the magazine quoted one reader who said, "it has the charm of the South, the sophistication of the city, and a warmth and friendliest that is unmatched."

It beat out such other towns as Sydney, Australia; Dublin, Ireland; and Queenstown, New Zealand. Charleston is South Carolina's oldest city and its second-largest city. It's renowned for its colonial architecture, its beaches, and the cuisine. Just down the road, Savannah also made the list, coming in at No. 7, while Asheville, North Carolina, was No. 14.
