Brian Esposito of Esposito Construction Inc. in Bluffton had won one award already that day and wasn’t expecting another.
“I was very surprised because I had won a previous award,” said Esposito, who founded his company in 2008. “It was very surprising, humbling and gratifying.”
Much to his unexpected delight was being bestowed the crystal globe as Builder of the Year at the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association (HBA) awards and board installation luncheon on Dec. 17.
Earlier at the gathering, held at the Country Club of Hilton Head, he was given the President’s Award from the membership of his peers, which numbers 510 members including 106 fellow builders.
Larry Bournias of Grayco Building Center was named Associate of the Year.
Esposito said the award was presented primarily to him for his commitment to and work as vice president of administration for the association last year, but it also reflected well on his company, which constructed two new homes and completed 20 home renovations in 2014.
“We work really hard with the association to better the industry,” said Esposito, who has been a HBA member since 2006. Esposito also was named president of the association for 2015.
He succeeds past president Patricia Strimpfel of Reclamation by Design Ltd.
His fellow board members for 2015 are Mike Saba, vice president of programs and administration (K. Hovnanian Homes LLC); Bournias, associate vice president (Grayco); Brian Osborne, vice president of membership (Osborne Construction LLC); and Matt Lyle, secretary/treasurer (Lyle Construction LLC). Builder directors for 2015 include Matt Bader (Full Circle Development), Chris Dalzell (Shoreline Construction & Development), David Gaal (Gaal Custom Homes & Remodeling LLC), Ben Kennedy (Brighton Builders LLC), and Brian Quinn (The Twelve Oaks Group LLC). New associate directors are TJ Anderson (Atlantic Spray Foam), Mitch Hickman (Lansing Building Projects), Betsy Nations (Francois & Co.), Anna Ruby (J Banks Design) and Michael Trezza (Palmetto Exterminators Inc.).
