Hilton Head Christian Academy is excited to announce that Dylan Curtis has been appointed middle school principal. Curtis has been at HHCA for three years. Beginning in 2011 he became the school’s director of instructional media and technology, and previously served as a business educator in the academy of finance magnet program at Lansdowne High School in Baltimore. Curtis received his master's degree in arts and teaching and his bachelor's degree in corporate finance and risk management insurance from the University of South Carolina. He is also the head coach of HHCA's boys' varsity soccer team.  

Jean Heyduck has joined the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry as vice president for marketing and communications. She will conceptualize and implement marketing, communication and public relations initiatives that build and promote the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry’s brand, image and strategic goals. Heyduck has more than 20 years of experience in agency, healthcare, financial services and nonprofit marketing, communications and public relations in Illinois, Wisconsin and South Carolina. She most recently served as executive director for The Literacy Center, located in Bluffton. Heyduck earned a master’s degree in communication from Eastern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University.

Pearce Scott Architects recently welcomed architectural designer Sarah Kepple to its growing staff. Kepple is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, where she earned a bachelor of arts in architecture and master’s of architecture. Kepple has been working in the architectural profession for more than 16 years. She has extensive experience in the production of working drawings for residential and commercial projects, including single-family and multi-family homes, and historic preservation.

Dr. Rochelle “Shelly” Ringer has joined Hilton Head Hospital’s national-accredited Breast Health Center. Ringer is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon dedicated to caring for patients with breast disease.  She earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a residency in general surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She went on to complete a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Brad Tadlock was promoted to the position of fire chief June 20. He replaced Fire Chief Lavarn Lucas,  who retired after 32 years of service.  Tadlock began his career on Hilton Head Island in 1988 as a firefighter/EMT. He has progressed through the ranks and since 2008 has served as the deputy chief of operations, providing oversight of all the fire station operations, the training division and the Bureau of Fire Prevention. 

The USCB Center for Event Management and Hospitality Training is offering the Island Ambassador Program. The program’s mission is to provide specialized education and training that will enable Hilton Head Island to remain a world class vacation destination. This program is offered complimentary.

Kurt GamblaBeaufort Memorial hires 1st chief medical officer
Dr. Kurt Gambla, an internist in the community for 24 years, has been hired as Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s first chief medical officer. In addition to serving as a primary care physician, Gambla has been involved with nearly every administrative committee in the hospital. A graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Gambla spent his first two years in the medical field working for Beaufort-Jasper Comprehensive Health Services. After six years in private practice he took a position with Beaufort Memorial Primary Care. He also served the last 16 years as hospice director of THA Healthcare. Gambla will take over as full-time vice president, chief medical officer June 1. In his new post, Gambla will collaborate with Beaufort Memorial’s medical staff to develop, implement and enhance clinical protocols and patient care services and programs. He will help recruit new physicians and play an instrumental role in developing a strategic plan for the hospital as it continues to expand and improve healthcare services in the future.

Bauer will lead Shelter Cove Dental after 14-plus years of private practice experience.
