A proposal to add a 3 a.m. last call is expected to be discussed at the Hilton Head Island Town Council meeting March 3. Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner wants a 2 a.m. last call for island bars in the wake of several incidents of violence. The Hilton Head Island Town Council rejected such a proposal in December. State law requires bars and nightclubs stop serving liquor at 2 a.m. but beer and wine can be served 24 hours a day.
Mayor Tom Peeples said he wants to work with Tanner and will propose a 3 a.m. last call.
