It’s hard to believe that spring is upon us. This season comes so subtly we are in the middle of spring before you know it.
The Streetscape is well under way in the Old Town district of Bluffton. Please be patient as all of the mess you now see is going to be well worth the inconvenience you will have to experience. Brick sidewalks, new paved roads, lighting and landscaping will only add to the town’s natural beauty.
The area is bustling in April, with the Verizon Heritage starting things off. Friends and neighbors, even though this tournament is in our neighboring town of Hilton Head Island, please support it as much as you can.
The benefits from the success of this tournament are seen in Bluffton. Charities such as the Boys & Girls Club and others are benefactors of the proceeds. Just as important are the dollars the Heritage Classic Foundation provides in scholarships for many graduating seniors from all of the area high schools.
With the warmer weather, everyone’s thoughts are moving toward the river. The May River has been in the news lately and we are concerned about the results of water testing done by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The town and county are working diligently on a “war plan” to protect the May River. Everyone can help in this cause.
Go to our Web site at townofbluffton.com and read the information on our tasks ahead. Be watchdogs for the town.
If you see anything out of the ordinary while enjoying the May, call and report your concerns.
Be proactive in your community and consider the addition of rain barrels or any other device that will help keep storm water runoff at a minimum.
Go to your Property Owners Association meetings and discuss what you can do as a whole to aid in this fight.
We are here to help and will be more than happy to come to your meetings as well.
LET’S TAKE CARE OF OUR RIVER. It is the reason so many of us live here and it is the source of income for many of our long-time residents.
