MAYOR LISA SULKAIam very excited about being the Town of Bluffton’s new mayor. Being the first woman elected to this position is quite an honor, and I hope to fulfill the expectations of our citizens. With some of the Community Infrastructure Projects under way you will see a lot of change in our town.

Two of the most visible projects are the Streetscape Project and Bluffton Oyster Factory Park.

The start of the streetscape project, which will begin at Bruin and Burnt Church Road and end at Pin Oak, is the first of two phases (continuing to Whispering Pines). Adding sidewalk areas and on-street parking will improve the appearance of the downtown area, and increase safety for pedestrians.

Businesses are still open to serve the public, so please don’t stay away from the Old Town during this project.

The second project underway in the Old Town is the renovation of the Oyster Factory Park.

Stabilization of the area has been completed and the renovation of the Garvin House is under way. Cyrus Garvin built the house circa 1870. It’s an example of a freedman’s cottage fashioned from various sources.

Please come to Bluffton and enjoy what we have to offer.

Bluffton Town Council meetings are at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at Town Hall, 20 Bridge St. For more information, call (843) 706-4500 or visit townofbluffton.com.
