Free event features family atmosphere
and expert instruction from PGA professionals.
The Legends at Parris Island golf facility will host a fun-filled day of free golf activities during PGA Play Golf America Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25.
Created to showcase the game of golf in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, PGA Play Golf America Day is presented by The PGA of America with presenting sponsor American Express.
Carolinas PGA Play Golf America Days are designed to provide free expert instruction to golfers of all ages and skill levels, introduce new golfers to the game and provide equipment testing from the best brands in golf today. Highlighting the day will be free instruction and golf clinics conducted by more than 20 PGA professionals from throughout the Carolinas. Instruction will include 10-minute tune-ups, and demonstrations on all facets of the game for people of every skill level.
The first 500 people through the gates at the Legends at Parris Island will receive a free goody bag. Trick shot artist Kevin Compare will perform his world-renowned show, Carolinas PGA Palmer Maples Teacher of the Year and Master Teaching Professional Brad Clayton will give an instruction clinic, and SNAG Golf for Kids equipment will be available for all the junior golfer.
Several of the golf industry’s leading equipment manufacturers, including Nike, TaylorMade, Adams, and more, will also be on-site to provide hands-on testing of the hottest products on the market today. Attendees will be able to test drivers on the range, wedges at the chipping area and putters on the practice green. Representatives from each participating manufacturer will also be on hand to provide club fitting and product insight.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to gather information on some of today’s most exciting golf participation programs that are part of the Play Golf America initiative, including Get Golf Ready, PGA Free Lesson Month, which is coming up in May, American Express Women’s Golf Week in June, American Express Friend of a Cardmember, which will be on-site at Parris Island, Family Golf Month, Take Your Daughter to the Course, and Bring Your Kids to the Range all in July, and the Carolinas PGA Golf League Championship.
“We have enjoyed a good relationship with the military facilities throughout North and South Carolina and this year we wanted to take our Play Golf America Days to places we hadn’t been,” said Carolinas PGA Executive Director, Ron Schmid. “The Play Golf America Day at Parris Island will give our PGA Professionals the chance to reach out to not just the civilian public but the military service men and women who protect our country each day.”
