Firefighters to host tourney at Golden Bear Golf Club.
The Hilton Head Firefighters’ Association will hold its sixth annual Spring Swing for Charity Golf Tournament, March 7 at the Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.
It’s an all-inclusive day of golf with friends on a legendary course while benefiting local charities.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a 10 a.m. shotgun start, 18-hole captain’s choice format. Cost of $100 per player includes greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner after tournament, cold beverages, goody bag, HHFA logo apparel, trophies, prizes and hole-in-one giveaways.
The Hilton Head Firefighters’ Association is a charitable organization comprised of Island Fire Department personnel who strive to give back to the community through support of local nonprofit organizations while promoting a better understanding of the fire service.
The HHFA was established in 2002 when a group recognized that firefighters and fire department staff of the town of Hilton Head Island needed a vehicle to raise and donate money to local charities.
Since inception, HHFA has donated more than $250,000 in cash donations or life safety equipment to numerous organizations. The South Carolina secretary of state lists HHFA as using 98.7 percent of all donations to fund charities.
Some of the charities that have benefited in the past include CODA, The Children’s Center, Heroes On Horseback, Meals On Wheels, Alzheimer’s Respite & Resource, The Children’s Relief Fund, Hope Haven, Hilton Head Heroes and more.
Automated external defibrillators have also been supplied to area schools.
