As more than 75 million Americans will reach the age of 65 in the next two decades, the need for in-home senior care will continue to soar. With the dismal housing market making it even more difficult to sell and get a good return on investment, more seniors are choosing to receive care in their homes rather than relocating to assisted living facilities. Local Home Helpers owners, Debbie Morris and Ted Cooley, are lending a hand to meet the in-home care needs of Lowcountry residents.

As part of the  nation's leading franchise specializing in non-medical and personal in-home care and companionship services for seniors, new mothers and those in need of recuperative and continuing care, Home Helpers has found a niche in the Bluffton/Hilton Head Island community by offering services that are needed in good times, and in bad.

Debbie Morris, an area resident for over 20 years, has a background in psychology, mental health services and non-profit management. With a background in business and management, Ted Cooley moved to Bluffton 10 years ago. Morris and Cooley opened the Home Helpers office in 2005 with the desire to own a rewarding business that would help families like theirs have more peace of mind and a better quality of life.

"As a business owner and a family caregiver, I wanted a concept that could offer local families the same quality of care I would expect for my family, as well as a more affordable alternative to assisted living or senior care facilities," said Morris.

Home Helpers is a qualified provider for the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, the South Carolina Alzheimer's Association, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and most long term care insurance companies.

Home Helpers offers a free in-home consultation and works with clients individually to tailor flexible care plans to meet their specific needs and budgets. Services offered include companionship, grocery shopping, meal preparation, assistance with bathing, dressing and feeding, medication reminders, local transportation and light housekeeping.
