OrthoCAD IQ provides comfort to patients

OrthoCAD iQ, a computer guidance technology that assists orthodontists with the optimal placement of braces, is a revolutionary system that reduces the number of office visits a patient must make during the treatment process and many times reduces the length of time spent wearing braces.

The skills of the orthodontist, combined with OrthoCAD iQ technology, ensure that braces are positioned optimally. First, the orthodontist takes an impression of the teeth. The impression is sent to OrthoCAD’s laboratory where a computer generated 3D-model of the patient’s mouth is created. With the computer model of the patient’s mouth, the orthodontist can fine tune the end result before positioning the actual braces.

This step enables the orthodontist to view any number of outcomes to achieve optimal placement resulting in a shorter treatment process for the patient. Once the orthodontist approves the final orthodontic procedure, the orthodontist transmits the recommendations to the OrthoCAD facility. The OrthoCAD technician integrates the orthodontist’s prescription and receives directions from the OrthoCAD iQ system as to where the braces should be placed on the patient’s mouth model. Back at the orthodontist’s office, the doctor efficiently and comfortably fits the braces on the patient using the customized bracket placement based on the patient’s needs.
