The Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association is proud to present its Fifth Annual Coastal Cajun & Blues Festival on October 18, at the Shelter Cove Community Park from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. “This is our most important and exciting time of the year.” said festival chairman Denny Fraser. He added, “It’s the [HHA]HBAs vehicle for giving back to our community.”
Booked after the wildly popular show at last year’s event, Sauce Boss will once again perform at this year’s festival. Sauce Boss mixes blues and hot sauce into a pot of gumbo on stage, creating a unique medium of Cajun cooking and melodious entertainment. Catch a glimpse of his act at sauceboss.com.
Regional act Heywire will follow Sauce Boss. Heywire captures the sounds of Southeastern American music, from the Delta to Appalachia. Heywire is on Myspace.com. In addition to Sauce Boss and Heywire, music at this year’s festival will feature local favorite fundamental sensation Stepping Stones, and Chris Jones, the original acoustic acrobat. Local roots band Weigh Station will end the day with some blues-rock.
Authentic Cajun food, including crawfish, alligator, étouffée, red beans and rice, and jambalaya mixed with a variety of shrimp, oysters and Po Boys from regional and local community restaurants, all offer attendees a Lowcountry taste of the bayou. An outdoor business expo will offer businesses a unique opportunity to connect with the community, and craft and resale vendors will be able to show their wares. Children will love the Ultimate Kids Area that features inflatable amusements for all ages, and a variety of games and crafts to keep kids entertained throughout the day. Opportunities are available for interested sponsors, businesses, craft and resale vendors.
Event proceeds will benefit the Home Builders Education Foundation, providing college scholarships to deserving students from area schools, as well as funds to other area education programs.
In addition to scholarships, the charitable efforts of the HHAHBA and its members in recent years have provided countless hours and more than $1 million in services and materials to local community projects.
