Wolf Creek Ranch

From the moment you step foot off your back porch at Wolf Creek Ranch, you are greeted with the opportunity to go anywhere and do anything. Each waking moment at Wolf Creek Ranch allows you to let your imagination run wild, breathe in every ounce of perfect mountain air, soak up the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, or just simply take in the beautiful views. It is from here, at the perfect altitude, that you will be content, knowing you are free to do whatever you please. Wake up early to catch the mountain sunrise and then head to Hurricane Creek and fish for trout to your heart’s desire. Spend hours hiking the hundreds of beautiful trails through thousands of acres in the adjacent Pisgah National Forest. Ride horseback through the Appalachian Trails, the Blue Ridge Mountains or the miles of trails surrounding your property. Relax in solitude by the waterfall, as the only sounds you will hear are the tranquil flowing water, the birds singing, and the wind gently swaying through the trees. Dine al fresco, Appalachian style in either of the two picnic shelters encompassed in the property.

Tell tales and roast marshmallows around a traditional fire pit overlooking the National Forest. However you choose to you spend your days here at Wolf Creek Ranch, perhaps the greatest comfort of living here is knowing you can do absolutely nothing at all – while still enjoying the beautiful vistas you will find from every acre of the property. We realize you want to get away from the typical, and knowing the sparseness of perfect land such as this, we promise to keep 53 acres of the development exactly as it is today, so you and your family can enjoy it for generations to come.

Cold Mountain

Cold Mountain is about creating the modern rural life. It always bothered me that on Green Acres, there had to be a choice between city and country life. It made for memorable comedy, but a lack of compromise rarely produces positive results.

Most of us have lived in urban environments and don’t want to give up the benefits of urban life entirely. Yet, we crave a connection to the beauty of rural living. I wanted to manufacture a new option.

One that didn’t compromise all of my competing needs. Could I catch a trout on fly in the afternoon then that evening, ten minutes away, attend the theatre? Could a strong neighborhood feel be created while integrating the natural beauty of the land that has always been here? Yes, but only with the best architecture, building materials and sustainable practices.

The first thing you sense about the Cold Mountain community and the land that surrounds it is how long people have farmed, raised livestock and fished here. The second is why we named it Cold Mountain.

It’s part of the contiguous mountain ridge of the actual Cold Mountain, which at 6000ft dominates the area skyline. Tucked into a beautiful valley at elevations from 3000 to 4000 feet, our Cold Mountain consists of extraordinary ever changing vistas, mild temperate climates, functional flat mountain meadows and the sounds of rushing rivers.

You get the feeling this land has always been pleasant-always been beautiful. And lucky, including having the good fortune of being part of the 500,000 acre Pisgah National Forest; preserving in perpetuity the boundaries of this valley.

So we start with the Pisgah, into which we drop our 300 acre development, Cold Mountain. Much of that acreage is common area for the community at large. So now we have a park within a park. However, the beauty of our Cold Mountain is that it’s not isolated. You‚ are twelve min from Waynesville, a town the L.A. Times just called a perfect blend of mountain charm and sophistication. Asheville, the larger city with all its resources is just under a half-an-hour away. So we start with a shell of pristine natural beauty that quickly connects with a unique combination of city and town experiences.

Driving from Cold Mountain in any direction, the fertile countryside laps up to the side of the road and you realize you have the opportunity to be part of what’s been here a long, long, time
