Local businesses and business people earned the following awards recently.

Designers get advanced training
In effort to hone their interior architecture capabilities, members of the J Banks Design team recently completed a 40-hour continuing education course in Autodesk Revit, a Building Information Modeling software that allows the associates to create 3D renderings, drawings and elevations for their clients. 

Weichert staffers win recognition
Several employees with Weichert Realtors Coastal Properties were recognized recently at an annual banquet in Charleston. Patricia Griffith was named sales leader for North and South Carolina region; Toni La Rose Gerken earned the President’s Cup; Patricia Griffith and Theodora Titus were named to the 2009 Ambassador’s Club; Ann Lilly, Julia Schroeter, Marge McDougal, Patrick Wrenn, Kathryn Michatek and Renee Fordyce were named to the 2009 Executive Club; and Bonnie Bachman, Christina Forbis, Jean Augustinsky, Jim Livingston, Robyn Henke, Sandie Major, Sherryl Hennessey, Susan Petty and Terry Burke were named to the Certificate Club.

TCL recognized for marketing efforts
The Technical College of the Lowcountry was recently honored in the 2010 National Council for Marketing & Public Relations Paragon Awards competition. TCL received a gold award for its “Finding a Good Job Is Tough” print advertisement series, and a silver award for its “Finding a Good Job Is Tough” radio advertisement series.


Stupica earns CFP certification
Jennifer Stupica, registered marketing associate at Morgan Stanley, has received the CFP certification awarded to individuals who meet specific ethical requirements and successfully complete a rigorous examination administered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, a nonprofit regulatory organization.

Johnson earns NAR short sales certification

Forbis receives certification
Christina Forbis, of Weichert Realtors-Coastal Properties, recently received Professional Standards Certification, which is designed to enable members of the local/state Professional Standards and Grievance Committees to gain knowledge of the Professional Standards process. 

Harrison new accountant at Bluffton firm
Michael Harrison has joined the certified public accounting and consulting firm of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, L.L.P., as a staff accountant.

Key Infiniti honored with national award
Key Infiniti has won an Award of Excellence from Infiniti. This national honor was awarded to only 43 dealerships in the United States, and Key Infiniti was the only dealer in South Carolina to win two years in a row. The award is given for outstanding achievement in both sales and customer service, based on Customer Satisfaction Index scores.

Maloney tops in membership sales
The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce's senior account executive of membership, Beverly Maloney, is currently ranked No. 1 in membership sales nationwide. The American Chamber of Commerce Executives tracks industry membership sales and compares chambers of similar size and dues categories. In other news, the chamber’s Visitor and Convention Bureau has been awarded a 2009 Gold Service Award by readers of Meetings and Conventions magazine.

Attorneys named ‘super lawyers’
John M. Jolley and Michael L.M. Jordan of the Hilton Head office of the McNair Law Firm, have been selected for inclusion in South Carolina Super Lawyers 2010.

County tops in financial reporting
Beaufort County has earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. The award represents the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting.
