More than 120 businesses and organizations will converge on about 20,000 square feet at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa’s ballroom at this month’s Business Expo 2010.
More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the expo, a face-to-face marketing opportunity that can be extremely valuable to entrepreneurs and other small business operations.
The event is hosted by the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, with presenting sponsor, Hilton Head Regional Healthcare.
The chamber has arranged a special seminar this year on social media. Curt Mercadante, principal of Merc Strategy Group, LLC, will present “The Press Release is Dead: Using New Communications Tools to Build Your Business, Non-Profit or Campaign.” From Twitter to Facebook to blogs, social media is being touted as the new tool for marketing to consumers who are increasingly online and mobile.
Merc Strategy Group, LLC, is a firm that uses technology to build strategic communications campaigns for corporations, nonprofits and advocacy organizations.
Mercadante previously served as director of political and state affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, one of the nation’s largest business advocacy organizations.
“The Press Release is Dead” will be presented at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18. There is no cost to attend.
Another event is a networking opportunity called “Expo After Hours.” Attendees will have opportunities to exchange business cards and even register to win prizes that include valuable services. “Expo After Hours” will start at 5 p.m. Feb. 17-18. It is sponsored by Hargray Communications and Palmetto Electric. Admission is $10 and there will be food, beer and wine.
