The top resort in the country isn’t in Hawaii or California. It’s right here in Bluffton, according to readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.
The magazine ranked the Inn at Palmetto Bluff the top resort in the United States and Canada for 2009 in its yearly reader survey. The resort scored well above the second-place Amangani resort in Jackson, Wyoming.
The resort also ranked No. 14 in the overall world’s best hotels ranking, right behind Eagle Island Camp in Okavango Delta, Botswana. The Lodge at Sea Island on St. Simon’s Island, Ga., also fared well, coming in as the No. 12 resort in the United States and Canada.
“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by the discerning readers of Travel + Leisure,” Palmetto Bluff general manager Marty Wall said. “This is a testament to the skill and dedication of our staff, who strive to provide the ultimate guest experience. We truly appreciate this recognition of our resort that has sought to embody the grace, comfort and romance of the South Carolina Lowcountry since we opened five years ago.”
