Delta announced it will resume flight service on Hilton Head in March, easing the minds of some travelers who worried the service was leaving the island for good.
The airline had said this summer it was ending its flight service in early November because flights connecting the island to Delta’s hub in Atlanta was not profitable enough in the off-season. Flights will now resume March 4 with four flights on most days to and from Atlanta.
Spokeswoman Susan Elliott said the airline will look to continue offering only seasonal service during the island’s busy months, meaning flights will end around November and pick up again in March each year.
“It is in direct response to requests from customers both in Hilton Head and around our route system,” Elliott said.
