University of South Carolina Beaufort Chancellor Jane T. Upshaw was honored recently by the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber named Upshaw its 2009 Business Education Partner of the Year at a dinner on June 16.
Upshaw was selected for the award based on her performance in her profession, contributions to the community and for being a distinguished leader in the county.
She has been a member of the Jasper County School District Advisory Board since 2000. Since becoming chancellor, she has continued to work to increase affordable access to baccalaureate degrees in the Lowcountry and to extend the university’s resources to the community through partnerships with local agencies and school districts including those in the growing region of Jasper County.
