The South Carolina Wildlife Federation has presented Nancy Schilling and the organization that she founded, Friends of the Rivers, the SCWF annual Water Conservation Award at its annual banquet in Columbia. This statewide honor was based on the impressive role that Schilling has played in educating local citizens, elected officials, municipal staffs and state and federal agencies about the special water quality protection needs of the Beaufort County ecosystem.
Schilling has elevated the importance of water quality protection to become a primary driving force for regulating both new development and use of water resources.
