• J Banks Design recently ranked No. 139 in Interior Design magazine’s list of “Top 200 Interior Design Giants.” The firm moved up from No. 171 in 2009, and attributes its success to renovation and refurbishment projects both locally and abroad in the commercial and residential sectors.
• The Rotary Club of Bluffton has awarded its Rotary International’s Paul Harris Fellows Award to Frank Ambrosic, John Kirkland and Bill Masterton. The award is named after the founder of Rotary International; members are recognized for exceptional service to the club.
• Bluffton resident Annette Newman Cheek has been selected to join FEMA training as a “Surge Capacity Specialist” in Alabama.
• Natalie Hefter has been given the Arts Council of Beaufort County’s Town of Hilton Head Island Mayor’s Award for the Arts. Hefter was recognized for her work developing the Art Market at Historic Honey Horn, as well as her leadership role with the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Art Committee, for which she has served as cochair for the past five years.
• Technical College of the Lowcountry paralegal instructor Leah Evans Parisi has been honored by the University of Southern California in Los Angeles for her leadership in nurse anesthesia education. The USC anesthesia program recently established its foundation in her honor. Parisi was also selected to deliver the keynote address at the program’s graduation ceremony in August.
• The Rotary Club of Bluffton has presented Jen Brown, founder of the Bluffton/Jasper Volunteers in Medicine, with $500 in proceeds
from one of the club’s concerts during the Sunday Concert Series held at Oscar Frazier Community Park this past summer.
