Since time immemorial (roughly the year 2000), Monthly's December issue has featured our Reader's Choice Awards. We got thousands of votes this year, and I'm proud to say I didn't have to go anywhere near the darn things.
Five years ago? Found myself with a closet quite literally stuffed with ballots waiting to be counted. This year? All digital, baby. Sure, someone had to count them, but that honor fell to our accountant, Shannon Quist, who only requires two hours of sleep a night and is like the female equivalent to that guy on Numb3rs.
But for this year's 11th annual awards, we felt like doing a little something... different. I won't go into too much detail now, but I will share this pic of art director Jeremy Swartz putting the finishing touches on a trophy we commissioned.
