Birding
When/Where: From 7:30-9:30 a.m. Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 at Coastal Discovery Museum Honey Horn
The Scoop: Participants will be led by an experienced bird watcher around Honey Horn’s unique combination of habitats that include a salt marsh, maritime forest and open felds. Participants may see summer tanager, eastern kingbird, painted bunting, yellow-bellied sapsucker, egrets and herons. The cost is $10 per person 12 years or older. 689-6767, ext. 223

Beaufort county Senior Games
When/Where: Nov. 2-6 throughout Beaufort County
The Scoop: These competitive, Olympic-style events are scheduled throughout the county for Beaufort County residents ages 50 and up. Volunteers are needed to help with traffic control, timing events, decorating, posting results, serving refreshments and other tasks. 705-4021, www.hiltonheadregional.com

Cross Island Parkway Bridge Run
When/Where: Race packet pick-up from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 6 at The Mall at Shelter Cove; 8 a.m. Nov. 7 starting at Crossing Park and over Broad Creek on the Cross Island Parkway
The Scoop: The 18th Annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run features a 10K and 5K road race and health walk. The 10K offers overall awards and age group awards in male and female race divisions. The 5K will offer 10-year race divisions. All participants receive a Bridge Run T-shirt. A post-race party and awards ceremony will offer refreshments, music and door prizes. The Bridge Run has raised more than $26,500 for Area 8 Special Olympics and The Children’s Relief Fund. 757-8520, www.bearfootsports.com

Charity Golf Scramble
When/Where: 10 a.m. shotgun Nov. 9 at Moss Creek Golf Club
The Scoop: The “Be a Saint” charity golf scramble will fund free yearly prenatal services offered by Pregnancy Center & Clinic of the Low Country. There are separate flights for women and couples and a $10,000 hole-in-one contest. The cost is $145 per person, which includes golf, Doug Weaver clinic, prizes, buffet dinner, happy hour. 689-2222,

Cupid’s Arrow Golf Classic
When/Where: 8 a.m. registration and 9 a.m. shotgun start Nov. 9 at Oldfield Golf Club
The Scoop: The Fifth Annual Cupid’s Arrow Golf Classic will benefit the John A. (Jack) Koldbush Memorial Fund at Backus Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Cost is $150 per player, which will include a boxed lunch. A special reception will follow the tournament with an awards ceremony, heavy hors d’oeuvres and entertainment by Jim Davidson. Holiday Boutique
When/Where: From 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 10-12 at Hilton Head Hospital’s lobby
The Scoop: The Hospital Auxiliary, a not-for-profit organization, will hold the annual holiday boutique where gifts for everyone are for sale. Complimentary gift wrapping and refreshments will be available. Proceeds assist people in the community who are in need of prescription medications and medical equipment. 689-8459

Turkey Tennis Tournament
When/Where: Nov. 20-22 at Chaplin Park and the Hilton Head High School tennis courts
The Scoop: Family fun events are planned for The Island Recreation Association’s Turkey Tennis Tournament. There are many different divisions and events, including parent/child, junior, women’s and men’s doubles, mixed and women’s and men’s singles. Raffe prizes, snacks, and tournament T-shirts will be available. The entry fee is $35 for one event or $40 for two events. Turkey Trot
When/Where: 8 a.m. Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day morning; race begins and ends at the Boathouse UU parking lot near the back entrance of Hilton Head Plantation
The Scoop: The 21st Annual Piggly Wiggly Turkey Trot is an island Thanksgiving Day tradition. Runners and walkers are encouraged to pre-register. All pre-registered participants receive a T-shirt and are entered into a raffle. Pre-registration is $30 and $40 on day of the event. All proceeds benefit The Island Recreation Association’s scholarship fund. 681-7273,

Community Dinner
When/Where: Hudson’s 11th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26. All are welcome to share turkey, dressing and all the trimmings at a free dinner.
The Scoop: There will be lots of good fellowship and a festive atmosphere. Transportation can also be arranged. This event is organized by St. Andrew by-the-Sea United Methodist Church and Hudson’s. All donations on the day of the event will benefit The Deep Well Project. For more information about reservations or volunteering, call 694-1093.

Charity Golf Tournament
When/Where: 9 a.m. registration and 10 a.m. shotgun start Nov. 21 at Palmetto Hall Plantation
The Scoop: The Jazz Corner’s Junior Jazz Foundation is raising money for new equipment, instruments, scholarships, classes and seminars for young students during the 5th annual Charity Golf Tournament.
