If you’ve noticed a local nature scene slowly coming to life at the Cypress of Hilton Head, you’ve seen the work of local artist Joe Doolan, who spent two weeks in January painting a Lowcountry nature-scene mural on two of the facility’s walls. “I had only to look outside at The Cypress for inspiration,” Doolan said. “The nearby rookery offers all the color and variety of the Lowcountry.”
Doolan used water-based acrylics directly on the walls of the new Bistro, which will open this month. His work can be seen in San Francisco, Seattle, Miami and Chicago; locally, his murals have been installed at CQ’s in Harbour Town, the Berkeley Hall clubhouse and in private homes.
